Third set: Zverev * 6-3, 6-3, 3-1 Bolt (* indicates server): To prove a point, Bolt rallies from 40: 0 to 40: 30 and forces Zverev to a hard volley to finish the game. Zverev has the answers for the whole fight.

Atzen "Ijährigen very much with my playing ländlichen. It's always a challenge to play the Williams sisters, "she says.
When asked how she now faces Serena in the fourth round, Halep laughs at her misfortune and adds, "It's going to be a bigger challenge."
Game, Set and Match Halep! Seed number one beats Venus Williams 6: 2, 6: 3
That was routine at the end and was summed up by the double mistake that opened Halep's door. Williams simply could not live with the number one in the world in the end.
Second sentence: Halep * 6-2, 5-3 Williams (* indicates server): Williams is simply unable to consistently play at Halep's level, the veteran still has a fight, but the forehand only lets them down too often. This is no longer obvious here as Williams runs twice in long rallies just to be survived by her opponent. Now Williams will serve to stay in the game.
Elsewhere, Ćorić Krajinović has finished. The young Croatian winner: 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.
Second set: Halep 6-2, 4-3 Williams * (* indicates server): Halep apparently has the ability to turn the screw whenever she wants. Hardly a flicker makes the Romanians 0-30 and Williams always has to hit big balls just to stay in it - it's not a formula for success and once again the advantage, Halep.
Second sentence: Halep * 6-2, 3-3 Williams (* indicates server): Only a double mistake after 40: 0 prevents a second consecutive unbeaten service play for Halep.

Second sentence: Halep * 6-2, 1-1 Williams (* indicates server): It's on! A fight by Williams and she breaks back immediately. An angled backhand, especially to make 0-30, was something special. Williams eventually ended Halep's run while the Romanian dropouts left the backhand of their opponent behind.
Second set: Halep 6-2, 1-0 Williams * (* indicates server): It's hard to see from Williams, she breaks down here. After Halep has risen to 30-0, the American no longer rushes. Number one in the world has now won six games.
Halep wins the first set! Halep * 6-2 Williams (* indicates server)
Halep seems to cross at 30-0, but a successful challenge for an ace changes the dynamics of the game. However, if Williams has a chance to punish his opponent, a mistake creeps in - a long forehand or a crooked backhand, giving back the advantage Halep hardly needs. After a break, an ace and another booming serve close Halep's fifth game in a row to win the set.
Elsewhere, Zverev is on the rise. He has broken Bolt again and has the chance to secure the first set against serve, which he does for the inaugural 6-3.
First sentence: Halep 5-2 Williams * (* denotes server): A loss in this and suddenly a first, in which Wiliams was well, seems to have lost their grip. A small victory after a long rally at 15-30 should stop the slide, but the loose hand and halep have another break point. Again, the forehand leaves Williams down and now all Halep has to do is take the first set.
First sentence: Halep * 4-2 Williams (* indicates server): Williams responds to the break by forcing four chances against their own serve. Again it is the delightful backhand that pleases Williams. The Halep has twice gone astray, but every time the Romanian has to take a break, she manages to dig near the place and extinguish the fire. Maybe keep an ace to build the game.
There is a lot of noise on Rad Laver. Main favorite Alex Bolt plays Alexander Zverev. The fourth seed had an early break, but Bolt put him back in sixth to tie him with a pause. Cheers for the wildcard.

First sentence: Halep * 1-1 Williams (* denotes server): The first service game is more routine for Halep, Williams will never really take root.
First sentence: Halep 0-1 Williams * (* denotes server): Halep seems to be in good order as she forces a break in the very first game of the game, but Williams is unimpressed and can hold on by giving our team a strong serve.
While this is a game of this caliber, it is a pleasure for the spectators, but you can be sure that Simona Halep Venus Williams does not want to fight for a place in the fourth round of the Australian Open. The American seems to have held her own for several years, but her quality is still safe. The number one in the world would have been afraid to play the seven-time Grand Slam champion so early that she is already looking for a second big title.
In a late-season injury, Halep got a bit under the radar in Melbourne, taking into account her size. Romanian progress has been calm so far and their recent record against Williams should be encouraging, but that's not a gimme.
Maybe the only question is the fitness of Halep. She seemed to have a leg injury in her second round fight and how well Halep can move on the pitch will be a big factor at Margaret Court Arena.
For Williams, a return to form after a fall of 2018 is the goal. A rematch with her sister Serena is also on the plan. It should provide a fascinating clock.
