A dead baby is found in a bin in an Amazon warehouse

Authorities in Arizona are investigating the discovery of a newborn's body in a women's bathroom. Amazon distribution warehouse, according to Phoenix police.

Police and firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving a call Wednesday night warning of "a dead baby," according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, the firefighters confirmed that the baby had no vital signs, said Sgt. Vince Lewis, who added that the cause of death is being investigated.

For now, the authorities have kept the investigation secret and no details have been disclosed about how the newborn could die.

Vince Lewis, a police spokesman, confirmed that investigators have spoken with the mother, but have not revealed their identity. They also did not specify if it was an Amazon employee.

Amazon said in a statement that it collaborates with the police investigation of this incident "terribly sad and tragic."

According The Washington Post, a journal that belongs to Amazon, what happened was a "personal medical event" and the company is conducting an internal investigation.

The huge distribution center is one of several Amazon facilities in the Phoenix metropolitan area and employs more than 1,000 workers.
