For its part, the nursing home – Abi Samra Social Services Center announced that 11 elderly people had diarrhea and vomiting and had already been transferred to the government hospital.
The hospital administration communicated that the center immediately contacted the Tripoli Health Authority and the Ministry of Health, in order to coordinate, follow up and find out the cause of the injuries, and that a general examination was immediately carried out, in coordination with the Authority, pending the results of the laboratory tests. The rest of the detainees were also vaccinated against cholera, with the participation of the Red Cross.
And he stressed that “the management of the center will issue an explanatory note as soon as the data is available, and will pursue the causes of the injuries, in order to prevent the spread of the infection or the recurrence of similar pathological manifestations among the elderly, whose number exceeds 300.”
