The icons were only displayed for about fifteen seconds, Monday, January 7, at the Samsung conference at the CES technology show in Las Vegas, but that was enough not to go unnoticed. While HS Kim, president of the consumer electronics division at the South Korean glove, presented new features of the Samsung Pass security solution, familiar logos were displayed on stage to symbolize facial recognition and fingerprint functions digital. And for good reason, Samsung has copied in all points the symbols of the Biometric solutions Face ID (launched in 2017 with the iPhone X) and Touch ID (released in 2013 with the iPhone 5S) of its big competitor Apple. Note that the Face ID icon is itself inspired by an older logo, that of the Happy Mac created in the 1980s. This characteristic face with a J-shaped nose appeared on Macintosh computers.

The blunder from Samsung has not failed to go around Twitter, where various users have posted images of this astonishing appropriation.
