President Donald Trump hailed the “spectacular” employment figures for the United States on Thursday, where the economy created 4.8 million jobs in June, a record month-over-month.

“Today’s announcements prove that our economy is starting to buzz again, in some areas we are putting out the flames and it is working very well,” said Trump, who made the health of economy, greatly damaged by the coronavirus pandemic, one of his campaign arguments for re-election.

The Republican billionaire held a short press conference in the morning at the White House to welcome the figures announced earlier today.

“We are going to have a great third quarter,” he promised. “The good thing is that these numbers will come out just before the election, so people will be able to see them,” he added.

The unemployment rate fell to 11.1% after 13.3% in May. In total, 17.8 million people were unemployed in June, 12 million more than in February before the health crisis.
