After a long reflection, Marion Sicot decided that it was time for her to go even further and seek justice. The Frenchwoman, who had already denounced, last March, the grip of her manager Marc Bracke after her positive control at the EPO, has therefore filed a complaint against her ex-sports director, whom she accuses of sexual harassment. According to the cyclist, he asked her for photos of her in underwear to, he said, to control her weight.

“Marion Sicot has decided to fight for sexual harassment against her former manager,” said Antoine Woimant, who filed a complaint in mid-May in Orleans. The procedure has since been transferred to the Montargis prosecution, in the territorial jurisdiction of the runner’s domicile.

The Frenchwoman, who joined the Belgian team Doltcini-Van Eyck Sport for the 2018 season, has been provisionally suspended since she tested positive on June 27, 2019 at the French Championships. After proclaiming her innocence, she had admitted, in a report on the program Stage 2 broadcast on March 8, to have ordered EPO and to have injected herself with this prohibited product three days before the race in the hope of succeeding in a performance and… regain the confidence of your manager.

Two bell sounds

Marion Sicot claimed that she had been sidelined after having decided, in the spring of 2019, to stop sending Marc Bracke photos of her in underwear, as he had asked her several times since October 2018, on the pretext of controlling his weight and his physical form. She poured into the proceedings her exchanges with her manager on Whatts App from 2016 to 2019.

The day after the broadcast of the report, the Belgian team had refuted any sexual intention with its sports director, ensuring that it had stopped claiming these photos sent once it had regained an “acceptable” weight. A version scanned by the Sicot camp, which attached to the complaint certificates from cycling professionals that such a method has no interest, because the images can be edited and the variations are not visible to the eye naked.

Contacted Marc Bracke did not wish to react: “An investigation is underway at the International Cycling Union (UCI)” and “we let the authorities work before responding”.

At the end of February, the daily Le Monde had indicated that the UCI ethics committee had opened a “formal procedure” concerning the Belgian team, following testimony from other sportsmen on the team.

Marion Sicot, who celebrated her 28th birthday on Wednesday, also contacted the UCI ethics committee.
