A broadcast survey We talk about RTS reveals that women who only have basic insurance cannot give birth free of charge in private clinics, yet they are supposed to pay for them.
If the law provides that patients without additional care must go to a public hospital, private establishments, listed on the cantonal hospital lists, are also called upon to provide certain treatments at the LAMal rate. For a simple delivery, this is the case of the Cecil Clinic, Lausanne, the Tour Hospital and the Grangettes Clinic, Geneva. However, when a fictitious appointment was made by a journalist, these establishments raised an invoice of up to 15,000 francs for the future mother. This illegal practice which could make them lose the financial aid that they affect the cantons.
