20 minutes – arrests after unauthorized demo

There was a demonstration in Zurich on Saturday afternoon. The demonstrators wanted to draw attention to the situation of the refugees in times of the corona crisis. According to the initiators, a car parade would have been a corona-friendly form for a demonstration.

Before the approximately twenty cars and approximately 100 demonstrators were able to start moving, the police stopped them. They blocked the unauthorized demonstration procession from all sides and expelled the demonstrators from the square. The demonstrators then left.

Several arrests

«At 2 p.m. around 30 vehicles and a number of bicycles drove through Hardstrasse and Heinrichstrasse. The city police have been calling for an unauthorized “car demonstration” on Heinrichstrasse under the motto “Safety for all Refugees” for days, writes the city police in a statement early Saturday evening.

«Several participants followed the instructions from the police and left the location with cars and bicycles. However, around 30 of them did not follow the instructions and stayed on Heinrichstrasse with around 16 vehicles. As a result, they were subjected to a personal check and dismissed, »the police said.
