2 Youths Killed by a Youth Group in Matraman

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Two teenagers, namely AL (12) and YR (17) died after being attacked by a group of unknown people in East Jakarta, Tuesday (18/8/2020) this morning.

The incident took place on Jalan Pramuka Barat (next to the fishing location) Rt 11/09, Utan Kayu Utara Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta.

At that time around 05.00 AL and YR were gathered with three friends at the scene.

A group of unknown youths then approached them.

“There was a group of people riding motorbikes of approximately 15 motorbikes crossing from Jalan Rawamangun in the direction of Pramuka, passing in front of Pospol and then taking a Fly Over towards Tanjung Priok,” said East Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief Stefanus Tamuntuan, Tuesday.

When the group stopped, they persecuted the two victims and three of their friends for reasons that are not yet known.

AL suffered stab wounds on the left abdomen and on the back. Meanwhile YR suffered stab wounds on his back and head.

The youth group then fled towards Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

The two victims who were dying were finally rushed to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Matraman East Jakarta by motorcycle. But both died before getting doctor’s treatment.

Currently, the East Jakarta Metro Police is investigating the case.

“Currently the Satreskrim team led by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the incident,” said Stefanus.
