2 Russian fighter jet pilots killed in domestic accident in Siberia

Two pilots died after a Russian combat aircraft during a test flight he crashed into a two-story house in Irkutsk, in southern Siberia. The incident occurred days after a military jet crashed into an apartment building in Yeysk, Russia, near Ukraine, killing more than a dozen people, including children.

The local department of the emergency ministry made it clear that the Su-30 plane crashed during a test flight. Kobzev later said two pilots died in the crash but residents were not injured.

He posted a video of the building, which he described as a 100-square-foot private home for two families, with smoke rising into the dark sky.

At least a dozen firefighters have been spotted on the spot, working to tame the flames that raged after the crash.

At around 1pm local time, the fire was contained, according to the Emergency Ministry, which said the fire engulfed an area of ​​200 square meters.

According to Kobzev, two families with a total of five people lived in the house but were not inside at the time of the accident. The governor expressed his sincere condolences to the pilot’s family.

“This is a huge tragedy. It hurts when professionals die,” he said.

After the accident, about 150 homes were left without electricity, Kobzev said, adding that they would be restored by the end of the day. The Russian Investigative Committee, which investigates the most serious crimes, said in a statement that it had initiated a criminal prosecution team on the incident.
