The DeLorean has the rare merit of being a box office success but a sales flop. The sports car launched in 1981 did not capture the interest of buyers, but it was loved by a generation when it became the flagship vehicle of Back to the Future in 1985. Now in California, a car salesman found two DeLoreans in the movie’s own circumstances: abandoned in a barn where they spent almost 40 years, intact.

The find was made by merchant Reed Nichols in Lake Elsinore, a small town in southern California. The two cars attracted attention for being in great condition. One of the two cars marked a more than enviable 2,600 kilometers on the odometer. The other, although noticeably more damaged, it barely marked 22 kilometers.
Although they would require restorations, both vehicles are in extraordinary circumstances, which raised the attention of specialized media in cars such as Road and Track, who were the first to cover the discovery.
At first the sale of these two vehicles caused great expectations among car fans and fans of the film. Even some fans of Back to the Future They loosely linked the find to the way the DeLorean is hidden and recovered at one point in the trilogy.

Nichols would have listed the two vehicles together for $ 50,000, a reasonable price according to experts. However, the original owner of the cars has decided that they are no longer for sale. Actually the Marketplace announcement on Facebook was corrected and says the following:
“Two DeLoreans from 1981 in a row. He was the owner’s agent but he now wants to auction the cars at an indeterminate future date. My apologies to those who followed me and chatted with me. If something changes I will post it here, for now he is not selling ”.
