Hertha BSC has to cope with two absences: Linus Gechter suffered a shoulder injury in the match against Fortuna Düsseldorf. As the second division football club announced the day after the The 20-year-old underwent surgery on Monday as a result of the 0-2 defeat. It is unclear how long the junior national player will be out.
Shortly after the announcement of Gechter’s diagnosis, Hertha announced that defensive midfielder Michal Karbownik would also not be available. The 23-year-old Pole sustained an ankle injury against Fortuna and will have to sit out for several weeks.
Bad luck with injuries continues
Gechter collided with his teammate Deyovaisio Zeefuik after just under 30 minutes on Sunday and was left lying on the grass in pain. He was kept in a state of shock for several minutes, first on the pitch and then behind a screen next to the track.
