2-0 in Halle – Eintracht Braunschweig achieves first win of the season | NDR.de – Sport

Status: 08/16/2021 10:07 p.m.

Third division soccer club Eintracht Braunschweig have achieved their first win of the season. At the end of the third game day, Lower Saxony won 2-0 (1-0) at Halleschen FC.

The BTSV built on their good performance in the first round match of the DFB Cup against the second division Hamburger SV (1: 2) on Monday evening. Coach Michael Schiele’s team stood in the back compactly and combined nicely. The initial phase belonged to unity, which, however, could not convert its superiority into something countable. As the game progressed, the HFC then gained more play and initiated some dangerous attacks, especially on the right wing, on which Tom Zimmer Various was a constant trouble spot for the Braunschweiger.

Ihorst brings Eintracht into the lead with a penalty

The 22-year-old demanded a free kick shortly before the break after falling a few meters from the guest penalty area. But referee Benjamin Brand’s whistle (Unterspiesheim) remained silent. Instead, the referee pointed a few seconds later on the other side at the penalty spot. And that decision was completely correct. The former Eintracht professional Luis Samson had prevented Maurice Multhaup from continuing in a rather awkward manner. Luc Ihorst confidently converted the due penalty to 1-0 (42nd) – the half-time result.

Fejzic prevents the equalizer

After the restart, the guests were faced with angry attacks from Halle. It was thanks to their keeper Jasmin Fejzic that their leadership continued. Thanks to their captain and with a bit of luck, the Lower Saxony survived the urgency phase of the HFC and had the chance to make it 2-0 even after a counterattack by Jannis Nikolaou. When the midfielder shot, Samson, of all people, got his foot in between and made up for his faux pas shortly before the break (55th).

Nikolaou scores 2-0

After that, the action shifted to midfield, which was a clear indication of the disciplined and good Braunschweig work against the ball. The “lions” were only able to provide relief sporadically. But when Eintracht appeared in front of the HFC housing, it was mostly dangerous. For example, in the 84th minute, when Lasse Schlueter hit a corner kick on the second post and found Nikolaou, who was able to head unhindered to make it 2-0.

“This is an important achievement for us. I think that in the end we are the deserved winner, as we created some chances. We did well after switching moments as well as from behind,” said Nikolaou. His coach Schiele fell a few stones from the heart after the first “three” in the fourth competitive game: “We are overjoyed with the result here in Halle. The boys were rewarded with the victory.”
