There was a shooting incident in Schiedam this afternoon. An 18-year-old man from Schiedam was seriously injured. Later that day, a 21-year-old man from Vlaardingen reported himself to the police station. He is suspected of being the shooter and was immediately arrested.
It is not known what preceded the shooting. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. Emergency services quickly came to the incident to resuscitate him.
Afterwards there was a riot involving emotional bystanders. According to the police, this was quickly nipped in the bud. After the disturbance, a 22-year-old man from Schiedam was arrested. What he did is still being investigated.
