17 EPS are investigated for repressing samples of COVID-19

After the attorney general, Fernando Carrillo, made known his concern about the lack of knowledge and control of the pandemic in Colombia due to the delay in taking and delivering the results of the coronavirus tests, the Public Ministry began a disciplinary process against 17 EPS and health secretariats of the country.

According to the control entity, in some cases delays exceed 30 days, as well as suspected irregularities in the process of taking and packaging PCR samples for diagnosis of the Sars-CoV-2 virus.

The Office of the Attorney General also requested the Supersalud and the Comptroller General to verify compliance with the obligations of opportunity and quality in taking samples and identifying positive cases.

The decision covers the legal representatives of Nueva EPS, Mutual Ser EPS, Comfamiliar Nariño EPS, Emmsanar EPS, Salud Total EPS, Coomeva EPS, Medimás EPS, Famisanar EPS, Comfacundi EPS, Ambuq EPS, Comparte EPS, Sanitas EPS, Directorate of Military Health, Cajacopi EPS, Asmet Salud EPS, Mallamás EPS.

At the departmental level, the delay in the delivery of results is 50,473, with Antioquia, with 21,130 having the most pending evidence. In the municipalities that number is 5,775 and in the districts 17,792.
