165 deaths in hospitals, slight decrease in people in intensive care

The epidemic continues to progress in our region with 122 new confirmed cases recorded by Public Health France on April 6, bringing the total to 2,663 confirmed cases in the region since the start of the epidemic. (As a reminder, these figures do not include all of the Covid-19 untested people identified by city medicine.

In addition, the departmental figures include cases that have not yet been geolocated and attributed to the laboratory department which carried out the test).

Assessment in the region

  • 797 people are currently hospitalized (+ 5 compared to the previous day)
  • 242 people are currently in intensive care or intensive care (- 1 compared to the previous day)
  • 739 people have been cured from the hospital since the start of the epidemic (+ 70 compared to the previous day)

Figures published by the ARS show that since the start of the epidemic, there have been 165 deaths among hospitalized people (+ 13 compared to the previous day).

The analysis by department also shows that if the Gironde is the most affected department, with 290 hospitalizations and 927 confirmed cases, it is also there that the ARS records the largest drop in hospitalizations (-25 in 24 hours).

In the Ehpad

As of April 8 at 9 a.m., 137 Ehpad (+ 20 establishments compared to the previous day) out of the 898 in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
(15%) reported one or more possible or confirmed cases of COVID-19 among residents or the
staff.

  • Among these reports, 616 residents were recorded as confirmed or possible cases (suspects presenting with symptoms) Covid-19 (+ 53 compared to the previous day)
  • Among these possible or confirmed cases, 32 died within the establishments (+ 7 compared to the previous day), and 19 died in the hospital (+ 1 compared to the previous day – the latter are therefore included in the indicator “Number of deaths among hospitalized persons” above).

Please note, the ARS specifies that these figures are the declarative data that were transmitted by the establishments between March 1 and April 8.
