15-year-old Ha Thu Nguyen from Immanuel Kant-Gymnasium in At thechtenberg According to Tagesspiegel information, she was elected Berlin’s new state student representative on Tuesday evening.
Ha Thu has been involved in student committees since she was 14, including about in the federal student conference, in the regional student committee and in the district student committee Lichtenberg. The tenth grader has also represented her committees externally in the past, for example at the federal school conference or at an event organized by the state working group of the Greens on the occasion of the start of the school year.
Góngora’s predecessor Felix Stephanowitz was – surprisingly for some – also ran for election on Tuesday. Ha Thu Nguyen just won with 12 to 11 votes. Voting took place in the auditorium of the Lichtenberger Max-Taut-Schule, which has a particularly large auditorium. As usual, two student representatives per district were entitled to vote.
In the subsequent election of the speakers, there should have been a dispute: The committees have been plagued by intrigue for a long time.
The newly elected board of directors contradicted this presentation later that evening. The election was only a “lively exchange between different members”, the board informed the Tagesspiegel. For “everyone”, the “productive cooperation of the committee was in the foreground”.

Nguyen’s predecessor, the Reinickendorfer Richard Gamp and Miguel Góngora from Charlottenburg, each held the post for only six months: Góngora had left because he had finished school, Gamp justified his withdrawal on request by saying that he wanted to prepare for his Abitur.
The new state student representative is trusted to take on a balancing role. The tenth grader stated her goal in the evening to the Tagesspiegel: “As the state student representative, I want to work for a strong state student committee that is there for the students. We are all students and together we have a strong voice, that of politics is heard. ”
