Jakarta

University of Northern Sumatra (BELIEVE) took firm steps against the 14 active students who were arrested BNN during a drug raid on the FIB Campus. USU will suspend the students involved for 6 months.

“Students who are active (14 people) and declared as users will be rehabilitated. After students undergo rehabilitation, the students and their parents will be asked to come to the faculty to sign a letter of agreement not to repeat their actions again,” said USU Public Relations, Protocol and Promotion, Amalia Meutia, told reporters on Monday (11/10/2021).

Amelia said that if the student broke his promise, he would be expelled from campus.

“If the person concerned violates the agreement made, the university will drop out. At the time the agreement was made, a suspension letter for 6 months was given to the student concerned,” said Amalia.

To note, the raid on the USU FIB Campus was carried out on Saturday (9/10) night. When raided there were 47 people at the location.

After urine tests, 31 of them tested positive for marijuana, while 16 others were negative.

“So during the raid, we found 47 people at the crime scene, we tested urine, 31 were positive for using marijuana. While the 16 negative ones were not brought to the office,” said the head of the North Sumatra BNNP, Toga Panjaitan.

Then, officers seized some evidence of marijuana. The illicit goods are said to have belonged to one of the detained persons with the initials JHS. JHS is said to have received marijuana from a woman with the initials D. This woman was then arrested by officers.

“We chased him, on Sunday, we caught D with his friend FAY, on Jalan Cemara Ujung,” said Toga.

Toga said JHS, D and FAY were snared as dealers. As many as 30 other people who were arrested from the FIB Campus were suspected of being drug abusers. Of the 30, 14 of them are USU students. They will be rehabilitated.
