… DHF cases in East Sumba this year decreased dramatically compared to 2019 with the number of patients treated by more than 800 people with the death toll 18 people

Kupang (ANTARA) – The Government of East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara Province noted 135 patients have recovered from the attack of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) after being treated at health facilities in the local area.

“Until now in East Sumba there are 135 DHF patients, and all of them recovered after undergoing medical treatment,” said the Head of East Sumba District Health Office, Dr. Chrisnawan Try Haryantana when contacted from Kupang on Monday.

He said, the case of DHF attacks was recorded from January 2020 until now and there have been no cases of patients dying from diseases caused by aedes aegypti mosquito bites.

Previously, the Regent of East Sumba, Gidion Mbilijora, when contacted separately, said that he was grateful that the DHF case in his area since the beginning of 2020 until now was recorded to have dropped dramatically.

“This is a good thing because the dengue cases dropped dramatically compared to the previous year and also we are grateful that there were no casualties,” he said.

According to him, this happened because of the support of various preventive efforts that were carried out both from the government and various elements of the local community. In addition, it is supported by efforts to deal quickly and continuously through existing health facilities in the local area.

Regent Gidion said, several activities such as cleaning up the environment, eradicating mosquito nests, and others continue to be carried out as an effort to suppress cases of illness due to Aedes Aegypti mosquito bites.

“These efforts we continue to push up to the villages because the impact is felt in suppressing the number of dengue cases,” he said.
