13.1% of specialists in Internal Medicine would be positive in Covid19 according to a survey

More than two out of 100 internists say they have passed the virus, although without a positive confirmation test

The Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) has published the main conclusions of the ‘SEMI Question of the Month’ for April, a monthly periodic survey that the SEMI launches among its members and that, on this occasion, had the participation of 1,321 professionals. It follows that 13.1 percent of specialists in Internal Medicine report having undergone a COVID-19 diagnostic test and having tested positive, while another 13.8 percent of internists “probably” have passed the virus according to the clinical manifestations it has had.

On the other hand, regarding the percentage of specialists in Internal Medicine who “believe” that they have not been infected by COVID-19, although without a confirmatory test (61.4 percent), and that of those who claim not to have suffered the virus with a confirmation test (9.4 percent). In addition, more than two out of every 100 internists (2.3 percent) claim to have passed the virus, although without a positive confirmation test.

It should be remembered that specialists in Internal Medicine are treating 8 out of 10 non-critical patients hospitalized by COVID-19, in addition to leading the formation of multidisciplinary medical teams, agreeing on diagnostic and therapeutic protocols against SARS-CoV-2 from a multisystemic perspective. and to develop the research facet through clinical records and publishing scientific articles.
