A 21-year-old Austrian, who tried to persuade a 12-year-old girl in Salzburg to have a sexual relationship, was sentenced to a partially conditional prison sentence of 12 months, of which two months were unconditional, today, Thursday, at the Salzburg regional court. The verdict on “initiating sexual contact with minors” is not final because the public prosecutor’s office has not issued a statement.
Location tracked via Snapchat
The accused made a full and remorseful confession at the trial. He accepted the verdict. According to the indictment, he wanted to get in intimate contact with the student from his neighborhood between September 27 and October 3, 2021. He is said to have offered her lewd compliments and offers, tracked her location via Snapchat and also unsuccessfully offered her joints.
12-year-old’s parents file a complaint
The girl’s parents got wind of the initiation attempts and filed a complaint. The young man was arrested in October. He had only been convicted in Salzburg last year for pornographic depictions of minors.
