115 people will die of dengue fever in 2022

Cases of dengue fever are still on the rise nationwide, especially in the northern and central regions.

According to regional statistics recently compiled by the Ministry of Health, there have been 314,271 dengue cases and 115 deaths across the country from the beginning of 2022 to date.

In recent months, the number of people infected with dengue continues to grow across the country, especially in the northern and central regions.

The causes of this situation are thought to be periodic outbreaks of dengue fever, the development of disease-transmitting mosquitoes while current weather conditions are favorable for caterpillars, rapid urbanization and the movement of people after the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Ministry of Health predicts that the dengue fever situation will continue to be complicated and the number of cases will tend to increase in the future.

In response, the Ministry of Health has asked all families to work with the health sector to immediately launch a campaign to kill the larvae in order to prevent the spread and prolongation of the plague. In endemic and hazardous areas, inspect and monitor larval breeding tanks, water containers, objects, waste, and mosquito breeding areas.

Local health authorities must also closely monitor the comprehensive response to the dengue epidemic. Arrange chemical spraying on 100% of households in the epidemic area. The chemicals are sprayed accurately, and the carrier index before and after spraying is evaluated to have a specific spray index. Identify high risk areas to organize active pesticide application.

At the same time, hospitals must review and coordinate patient admission, screening and triage processes, establish treatment plans, and support secondary stages to avoid overcrowding.
