10:50 am – Major damage in Alblasserdam car accident

A 50-year-old man from Alblasserdam was injured this morning in an accident at the harbor in Alblasserdam. The man drove his car through the bend, shot over the center conductor, ended up on the other road surface and collided with a concrete bollard.

He then crashed his car into a billboard, after which the car crashed into a concrete pillar of an apartment complex.

This caused the car to spin 180 degrees and eventually come to a stop under the apartment complex. As a result of the accident, a piece of concrete from the bollard flew through the window of the property of an estate agent next door.

The police, fire brigade and ambulance service rushed to the scene. Before the emergency services arrived, several residents of the apartment complex ran outside to provide first aid.

The 50-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance. The man had injuries to his face, among other things. Emergency services suspect that the man became unwell behind the wheel. This scenario is being further investigated by the police.

The battery of the electric Volvo has been disconnected by the fire brigade. A recovery company then loaded and removed the vehicle. Municipal employees clean up the chunks of concrete.
