In Turkey, over 1000 years in prison was sentenced to a pseudo-religious priest accused of sexual crimes.

Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported on the 11th (local time) that an Istanbul court sentenced cultist Adnan Octar, 64, to jail for 1075 years and three months. Octar organized a criminal group in 2018 and was arrested along with his congregation on charges of sexual assault and abuse of minors, tax evasion, and torture.

After dropping out of college in the 1980s, Octar gained fame by writing The Atlas of Creation. In the 2000s, he established a TV channel called A9, appeared on talk shows, preached the doctrine of anti-evolution, and attracted believers.

Before he was arrested, he appeared on a program called’Kitons (kitten)’ and spread his theory. At that time, the women who appeared with Octar in the program wore heavily exposed clothes and danced to the cheerful music with dark makeup.

It turns out that Octar has brainwashed women as bait for religious teaching and enlightenment. He is also accused of intimidating the victim by cheating, as if recording a scene of sexual assault on a woman. He insisted in court that “I have a lot of love for women in my heart. Love is a natural quality as a human being and as a Muslim,” and “I have 1,000 girlfriends.”

But in court, victims stated that Octar repeatedly raped women and was forced to take birth control pills. In fact, 69,000 contraceptives were found in Octar’s house. In response, Octar explained that it is “for the treatment of skin diseases.”
