10,000 customers of bankrupt hair removal salon Just Wellness demand a refund

It was in December of the previous year that the doors of Just Wellness hair removal salons suddenly closed. After weeks of uncertainty among customers and staff, the company filed for bankruptcy. In the meantime, some 10,000 customers have demanded their money back through curator Flip Schreurs, for treatments that had already been paid for, but which they never received. “That much progress is special,” says Schreurs.

Just Wellness, headquartered in Valkenswaard, had branches throughout the province. It offered inexpensive hair removal treatments. Customers bought packages, with prices ranging from a few tens to a few hundred euros. They could then have unlimited treatment, or so she was promised. But that turned out to be too good to be true. The company thus went bankrupt, with a debt of 4.5 million and 20,000 duped customers.

Angry customers were stirring, including on social media. They were angry that they had lost their money, but there were also many complaints about the treatments. For example, the hair removal treatments would not have the desired effect and photos were shared of rashes and burns that would have occurred at Just Wellness.

Customers do not get anything back
About half of the 20,000 duped customers reported to Schreurs. “There are many of them. I’ve done a lot of major bankruptcies, but so many claims are special, ”he says. “And they are all claims of about a hundred euros. We try to keep everyone well informed. We told them that they probably will not see anything of the money, but that did not stop people from making a claim That is people’s right, people are angry anyway. ”

Schreurs hoped in January that he could sell four of the seven branches to make a restart. “But Corona is not the best time to start a beauty salon,” he says. “Still, I am happy that I sold one store.” It concerns the one in Eindhoven.

Major creditors first
But the sale of that one branch never brings in enough money to satisfy all those creditors. The largest creditors, such as the tax authorities, take precedence. After that, in all likelihood, nothing will remain for all those duped customers. Why the company went bankrupt is still under investigation.
