Merdeka.com – The Garut District Health Office has started diphtheria vaccination for children aged 2 to 15 years in Pangatikan District, Garut, West Java, Monday (27/2). In the process there are still residents who have to be persuaded to want to be vaccinated.
Garut District Health Office Secretary Leli Yuliani said that for this first stage his party focused on vaccinating children aged 2 years to 15 years in Pangatikan District.
“Our target is based on our data there are around 11,600 children of that age in Pangatikan District,” he said.
On the first day of vaccination, according to Leli, it is estimated that the number of residents who have been vaccinated against diphtheria has reached 50 percent. This process will continue for the next 10 days until all targets are vaccinated.
“So within 7 days we will carry out the vaccination process carried out by health workers. For the next three days, we will carry out sweeping of children who do not come to the existing vaccination posts to be vaccinated,” he explained.
Leli explained that residents were quite enthusiastic about participating in the diphtheria vaccination activity on the first day. However, he admitted that there were still residents who had to be persuaded to undergo diphtheria vaccination.
“Indeed, there are those who have to be persuaded, explained first what the benefits are and so on. Thank God, with the approach of the officers in the field, they finally agreed,” he said.
Until now, said Leli, the number of Garut residents who have been confirmed positive for diphtheria is 10 people. This number consists of 9 residents of Pangatikan District and 1 from Tarogong Kaler District.
“There are also three suspected suspects in Pangatikan District, who have been tested but the results have not come out yet. For residents who are positive and are receiving treatment, their condition continues to improve,” he concluded.
