The’Thousand Years’ Old Temple’s Daewoongjeon Hall has been restored to ashes again six years after it was restored with donations from citizens.

A monk, A, who was practicing at Naejangsa Temple, set fire to a discord with a colleague.

The police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.

It was completely burned and turned into a terrible ashes.

Only the pillars that were darkly burnt down make us guess the site of the Naejangsa Daeungjeon.

In 2012, even before the scars of the fire could disappear, the nightmare was recreated again.

[내장사 신도 : 복원을 했잖아요. 너무 좋아서 올 때마다 한 바퀴씩 돌아보고 그랬는데 시간이 엄청나게 걸려서 지었는데 또 이런 사고가 나니까 너무 속상해서….]

It was a wooden building and the weather was dry, so the fire quickly engulfed the entire Daeungjeon Hall.

In particular, I was fortunate that the fire was so great that it did not spread to Naejangsan.

Seven and eight monks tried to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers, but they couldn’t rescue any discord or tablets, let alone the initial evolution.

[내장사 신도 : 쳐다볼 수밖에 없고 어떻게 하느냐고요. 언니가 위패라도 찾으려고 했는데 못 찾았어요.]

The police applied for an arrest warrant for A, the 53-year-old monk who set fire.

It was investigated that Mr. A reported himself to the police after sprinkling gasoline and lighting the Daeungjeon Hall.

In addition, the monks who lived together made it sad that they set the fire, and they softly admitted that the crime was committed.

The police confirmed that Mr. A entered the Naejangsa Temple three months ago as a monk, and is investigating the details of the incident.
