The Seoul Institute of Health and Environment has announced that a total of 34 dengue fever patients have been confirmed in Seoul hospitals up to last month of this year.
There were no confirmed dengue fever patients last year, but it is reported that the number of dengue fever patients has also increased as the number of overseas travelers increases due to the easing of quarantine guidelines COVID-19.
Countries with suspected dengue infection include Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and India.
Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an aedes mosquito infected with the dengue virus. It is an acute febrile illness with symptoms such as headache, musculoskeletal pain, and rash after an incubation period of up to 14 days.
