YTN secured 119 ambulance black box video and body cam video of paramedics before and after the Itaewon disaster.

If you watch the video, an ambulance was dispatched three hours before the disaster, but from then on it was hard enough to get inside.

This is reporter Yoon Seong-hoon’s report.

It was around 7:25 pm, about three hours before the Itaewon disaster.

An ambulance departs from the nearby Seobinggo 119 Safety Center.

This is because a report was received that a woman fainted as she exited Itaewon Station.

It was about 8:11pm when we arrived at the scene.

It took about 40 minutes to cover the distance of 2.2km.

Normally, it would take less than 10 minutes.

In fact, in the video at the time, even though some police officers were in control, people were so crowded that they left the sidewalk and crossed the road.

It was once again revealed through this video that a large number of people had already gathered in Itaewon three hours before 10:15 am when the large-scale disaster was believed to have occurred, but no action was taken.

Difficulties in coping with the disaster were foreseen from then on.

At around 23:00, the site command team leader of Yongsan Fire Station radioed, “It seems that the situation will end in a while.”

However, looking at the firefighters’ body cam video taken around 11:06 pm, it was a situation where people were still crowded one after another in the narrow alley.

In fact, around 11:13 am, firefighters are complaining of a shortage of emergency personnel.

“Why are there so few paramedics now?”

The second phase response was issued soon after, but rumors say it is difficult to get patients out.

“Even if we load patients, we won’t be able to get out.” “First I have to get you. I can’t do it now.”

In addition to this, the firefighters had to check the remaining citizens in the alley to get out.

For this reason, even the classification of serious cases was not carried out until 11.16 pm, approximately one hour after the estimated time of the disaster.

“There is no ambulance that is serious?” “I have to, but I can’t.”

In an urgent situation, the fire brigade is looking for health center personnel, but

“The health center must come.” “I don’t think we can do it on our own because we’re not there yet.”

The head of Yongsan Health Center arrived near the site at around 11:30, but returned to Yongsan-gu’s office, saying access was difficult due to the large number of people.

Finally, after 11:23, these words come out.

“People who surrender should surrender and save the people who can be saved first.”

The police said that 45 minutes from the time of the disaster, i.e. until 11 am, is the golden time to reduce human casualties, but even after this, the rescue operation was not carried out properly.

An ambulance 3 hours ago predicted difficulties in disaster relief activities.

It was once again revealed that no government agency, including the police, fire department, Yongsan-gu office, Seoul Metropolitan Government and Ministry of Public Administration and Security, failed to play their part and led to a major disaster.
