The spread of the COVID-19 mutant virus has spread to more than 80 countries.
Among the many variations, the ones with high risk are from the UK, South Africa, and Brazil, but all of them have already been introduced to Korea.
Reporter Hyung-won Lee reported on what is different from the existing Corona 19, the mutant virus, which is regarded as a catalyst to increase the size of the diagnosis.

▲ What is the difference between Corona 19 and its propagation power?
It is estimated that the spreading power of the UK mutation is up to 70% higher.
The South African and Brazilian mutations are also estimated to have high propagation power, but there are not enough epidemiological data as in the UK.

▲ Is the fatality rate higher than Corona 19?
In the UK, such research has also been published.
It means that the mutation fatality rate is 30% higher than that of the existing virus, but it is evaluated that the generalization is still early.

▲ Existing vaccines, neutralizing mutations?
While conventional vaccines can block the UK mutation, it has been shown to have significantly less preventive effect on the South African and Brazilian mutations.
Still, it has been confirmed that the effect of preventing severe worsening is still effective.

It is pointed out that the vaccine is not 100% effective, and 70% is insufficient because only adults 18 years of age or older can be vaccinated.
