The first trial of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, accused of engaging in corruption during his children’s entrance exam and ignoring the supervision of former Busan City Deputy Mayor Yoo Jae-soo when he was chief official of the Blue House, concludes this week.

The Seoul Central District Court plans to designate a sentencing date this Friday (December 2) after hearing the final opinions of the prosecution and former minister Cho and concluding the discussion.

Considering the fact that the sentencing hearing is held three to four weeks after the conclusion of the usual hearings, former Minister Cho’s first-instance sentence is expected to be delivered as soon as this year, or January next year at the latest. year.

Former minister Cho has been on trial since January last year for being involved in bribery in his children’s entrance exam with his wife Kyung-Shim Jeong, a former professor at Dongyang University, and for evading the ex’s investigation Busan City Deputy Mayor Yoo Jae-soo’s alleged misconduct while serving as the chief official in the Blue House.

The ex-professor Jeong’s spouse was previously sentenced to four years in prison for forging his daughter Jo Min’s summons and exaggerating her career.
