[미디어이슈=김경희 기자] Amid the increase in the number of’home cafes’ enjoying coffee at home due to Corona 19, a case of the number of bacteria exceeding the standard among some products sold on the Internet was discovered.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety collected 39 Dutch coffee products sold in internet shopping malls from December last year to the 5th of this month, and tested the number of bacteria and coliforms. It was announced on the 18th that it had been scrapped.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the number of bacteria exceeded the maximum allowable limit (1,000 CFU/mL) in all 7 products. ‘CFU/mL’ is a unit representing the number of living microorganisms per 1 mL.

In some products, it was found that the number of bacteria was detected up to 14 million CFU/mL, which is 1400 times the level of the allowable standard.

In addition, in some companies, it has been confirmed that there is dirt on the floor and walls of the workplace, and coffee grounds are pressed against the equipment (container, exposure) that extracts Dutch coffee, and thus, it is confirmed that the’workplace environment improvement’ and’cleaning equipment, etc.’ Process improvement’ and other measures were taken.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said, “Due to the nature of Dutch coffee that is brewed with cold water for a long time, if you do not cleanly manage the workplace environment or extraction equipment, microbes can easily be contaminated, so you must take thorough hygiene management.” He asked, “You will report any products suspected of being junk food.”
