According to an interview on Spotify News on the 17th, an employee at SM’s overseas branch recently sent a sleeping pill that BoA was taking during his activities in Japan from Japan to Korea. Gua and Boa were investigated by the prosecution.
Regarding this, SM said, “As a result of a recent health checkup, BoA took a sleeping pill that was prescribed by a doctor that he needed enough sleep due to a decrease in growth hormone, but the side effects were severe.” An employee of our overseas branch who recalled what was not there, was confirmed at a local hospital and received the drug in a normal procedure, but was not aware that even a drug that was normally prescribed overseas could be a problem in Korea.
According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s regulations on the safety of pharmaceuticals, etc., in order to handle and import pharmaceuticals, they must obtain permission from government agencies, and those who have been approved must also go through the import procedure with prior notification and permission. It was found that the overseas branch employees were not aware of this process, and only heard the notification that the drug could be shipped overseas if the ingredient list was attached at the local post office.
In addition, SM said, “In the future, we plan to strengthen training for all employees to prevent this from happening again. I am sorry for the inconvenience.”
