The US state of New York has decided to further restrict the entry of passengers on flights departing from the UK where the COVID-19 mutation is spreading.
US media, including the Associated Press, reported on the 21st local time that British Airways agreed with New York that only passengers who had previously tested negative for Corona 19 would board flights to New York.
In March, the United States banned non-American passengers from entering the UK, Ireland and 26 European countries.
Accordingly, New York State’s action is interpreted to mean that even if an American has stayed in the UK, he must receive a negative COVID-19 test before allowing him to enter the United States.
Governor Andrew Cuomo disclosed the agreement with British Airways and said it has also requested voluntary inspection of passengers departing from the UK with Delta and Virgin Airlines.
Governor Cuomo warned that “if airlines refuse, another action will be taken at the state level.”
As New York State shares the supervision of JFK International Airport with the federal government, it is observed that Governor Cuomo’s warning includes strong measures such as a ban on entry.
