Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea, which were blocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, resumed this month, helping to alleviate the global food crisis.

In particular, as the safety of the Black Sea route is confirmed, the number of cargo ships carrying Ukrainian grain is expected to increase significantly.

This is the report by Lee Dong-heon.

A cargo ship is entering the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk on the 10th local time.

Unlike a freighter that left with grain after being stranded in a Ukrainian port due to war for five months, it is a freighter that came in empty to load grain.

It is the second cargo ship to enter a port on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine and is scheduled to depart with 30,000 tons of corn.

The Joint Control Center, which is in charge of the safety of the Black Sea route, announced that 12 ships have departed since the first grain exporter left Odessa, Ukraine on the 1st on the 10th.

In fact, the amount of grain amounts to 370,000 tons.

Another four ships were permitted to enter the port.

The Joint Control Center added that no dangerous objects such as mines were found on the newly opened route, and that ship inspections were also proceeding smoothly.

As the safety of the route has been confirmed like this, the interest of cargo shipping companies is growing, with dozens of calls or emails coming in a day.

Ukraine plans to increase its grain exports to 5 million tonnes per month.

There is a growing possibility that prices in the global grain market, which had been concerned about the sustainability of Ukraine’s grain exports, will stabilize downward.
