The UK’s England Public Health Department said the first reported case of infection with the highly contagious COVID-19 mutant virus found in Manaus, Brazil was also reported in the UK.
The number of Manaus mutant virus infections identified by the Public Health Administration was 6 in England and Scotland, including 3 each.
Of these, two confirmed in England have traveled to Brazil, but the route of infection for one has not been identified.
The Scottish confirmed case was confirmed while self-isolation after coming to London via Paris.
The Manaus foot mutant virus has some in common with the South African mutant virus, and public health officials are concerned that the vaccines currently being vaccinated may be less effective.
