U.S. President Joe Biden says he has signed a new executive order requiring immediate sanctions on military leaders in connection with a coup in Myanmar.
In an emergency speech during the day, President Biden demanded the Myanmar military to relinquish power while demanding the release of state adviser Aung San Suu Kyi and others.
President Biden warned of sanctions against the coup in Myanmar on the 1st in US time, condemning the coup as a direct attack on democracy and the rule of law.
The Myanmar military officially confirmed the coup on the 1st in Korean time and declared a one-year emergency.
State adviser Aung San Suu Kyi and President Yun Min have been detained at home.
