SchoolJam, Germany’s most successful young talent initiative for popular music, is responding to the corona pandemic with a new contest. The annual Germany-wide school band festival for 20 years, at which over 100 young bands take to the stage, will be postponed to 2022. In its place this year there will be a recording contest, which will be held entirely online.

All young musicians up to the age of 21 are called upon to record their music at home and send in the results, regardless of whether they are a band or just an individual.

In numerous tutorials, SchoolJam shows how to e.g. B. can convert your home computer into a fine music studio. Ways are also shown how several musicians can make music together online. Numerous tips are given for teachers on how to organize music lessons online.

Musically everything is allowed, whether pop, classical or EDM, choirs and pure instrumental music.

The works created in this way should be submitted to SchoolJam by May 30, 2021. A jury of experts then selects the submissions that have to be presented to a broad audience in an online voting. Then a jury made up of prominent musicians will decide on the winner.

The producer (s) of the best track can look forward to a professional mixed session in the studios of the Abbey Road Institute in Frankfurt. In addition, the senders can look forward to various music electronics with a total value of around 15,000 euros as prizes.
