German Institute for Service Quality awards insurance products of the year
Various insurance products were assessed in the areas of innovation and benefits for insurance customers. In the motor vehicle insurance category, the product ‘Insurance for electric cars’ from Verti Versicherung AG won the test.
In the documentation of the results of the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ) this is justified as follows: “With its electric car insurance, Verti Versicherung offers a product that has its finger on the pulse. This creates a high level of benefit, as it makes sense to insure special risks, such as the battery, in an electric car ”.
With Verti, the battery is protected against all damage thanks to the all-risk cover, even if it is caused by incorrect operation. In addition, the charging cable is also secured against loss or theft. Another important component is towing the vehicle when the batteries are empty.
Carlos Nagore, Vice President Product Management at Verti Versicherung AG, comments on the award: “Our aim was to adapt our product as best as possible to the needs of electric car drivers. The conventional coverage concepts for vehicles with gasoline or diesel engines often have significant coverage gaps for electrically powered vehicles. We are closing this gap, also to create a further incentive to switch to electromobility. ”
At Verti, low-emission driving has been rewarded since 2007: since then, vehicles that are electrically powered or have a maximum weight of 2.2 tons have CO2 emissions of less than 110 grams per kilometer automatically receive a CO2 discount of ten percent on insurance. Anyone who is currently thinking about purchasing an electric vehicle or changing insurance for their electric car can benefit from an increased CO2 discount of 20 percent at Verti until January 31, 2021.
In July 2020, the German Institute for Service Quality made inquiries to 161 insurance companies in order to create a transparent overview of innovative products on the market. The products submitted were examined in detail by DISQ in cooperation with insurance experts and rated on a scale from 0 to 100 with regard to benefit and innovation. Both ratings were weighted 1: 1 for the overall result. At the end of the day, the awards were given to the products that impressed with an overall score of at least 70 points and were therefore rated as ‘good’ or ‘better’.
