An 81-year-old man from Löffingen was cheated of several thousand euros.
The senior initially received a call on October 8th, 2020 in which he was promised a profit of 38,550 euros. In order for this money to be delivered to him, however, he would have to pay 500 euros in transport costs. He should buy prepaid cards from payment service providers and give the codes over the phone.
After the senior complied with this request, he received further calls in the following days, in which he was informed that he had not won 38,500 euros, but 83,500 euros. To do this, however, he had to buy additional prepaid cards and transmit the codes again by phone. Unfortunately, the senior sent the codes for prepaid cards in the amount of 8,000 euros to the unknown perpetrator.
The police expressly warn against such telephone fraudsters.
The Löffingen police station has started the investigation.
