45127 E.-Stadtkern: On Saturday evening (July 17th) the police slowed down a total of four drivers who were driving too fast with their highly motorized vehicles and who were possibly racing. At about 8.40 p.m., witnesses informed the police because they had observed two drivers (20, 21) how they let their engine roar several times on Hindenburgstrasse / Hachestrasse and were said to have carried out a drag race side by side over and over again. In addition, the 21-year-old BMW driver is said to have erupted the rear of the gray 3-series BMW several times while the 20-year-old was driving behind him in his black Audi A4 convertible and the occupants were filming the 21-year-old’s maneuvers with their smartphones. In addition, the drivers should have braked each other several times. The police encountered both vehicles. The smartphones of all seven people involved, the vehicles and the drivers’ licenses of the two drivers were confiscated. At around 11:15 p.m., the police received another reference to two suspicious vehicles whose drivers (22, 23) were positioned in the area of Hachestraße / Hans-Böckler-Straße. The 22-year-old Golf driver is said to have driven over “Red” at the junction, where the 23-year-old Hyundai driver stopped. It is said that there was almost an accident with an oncoming road user who turned from Hachestrasse onto Hans-Böckler-Strasse. In the further course in the direction of Gladbecker Straße the gray Hyundai I30N and the red Golf GTI drove at the same height. Again and again, the drivers are said to have accelerated several times and then suddenly braked again so that the flowing traffic was slowed down. Uninvolved road users were cut regularly. At the intersection of Gladbecker Straße / Grillostraße / Hans-Böckler-Straße, both of them turned left onto Gladbecker Straße and ignored the red light displayed there. The police grabbed the 23-year-old Hyundai driver at Gladbecker Strasse / Johanneskirchstrasse and started chasing him. The young man drove onto the A42 and took the next exit “Altenessen”, where he was finally stopped and checked. At the same time, another patrol crew found the parked red Golf GTI below the motorway bridge on Heßlerstrasse / Karlstrasse. A short time later, the 22-year-old driver returned to his car. When asked by the officials, he initially said that he had nothing to do with the Golf GTI and that he just wanted to take a walk. However, a suitable car key in his pocket quickly revealed him as the driver he was looking for. There may be other inmates in the Gulf who had left before the police arrived. In this case, too, the police confiscated both vehicles and the drivers’ licenses. A blood sample was taken from the 23-year-old on suspicion of using narcotics. Witnesses or road users who may have been themselves endangered or cut, please contact the police on 0201 / 829-0. In addition, the police also receive information about possible other occupants of the Gulf. In both cases, the police are investigating suspected participation in an illegal motor vehicle race. The investigation continues. / YH
