45309 E.-Kray: A 65-year-old Gelsenkirchener crashed last night (April 1, 5:30 p.m.) on Rotthauser Strasse with his Yamaha after colliding with the BWM of a 23-year-old from Essen. The Gelsenkirchener drove the Rotthauser Straße in the direction of Gelsenkirchen. In front of him was the 1er BWM, which was controlled by a 22-year-old. The 23-year-old vehicle owner was a passenger in the car. According to the current state of the investigation, the 22-year-old intended to turn left from Rotthauser Strasse onto Gedingeweg. The Gelsenkirchen motorcycle rider collided with the BMW for a hitherto unknown cause, fell to the ground with his Yamaha and slid into the mouth of the Gedingeweg. The 65-year-old was seriously injured by the accident. Passers-by took care of the injured man until rescue workers arrived. An ambulance then transported him to an Essen hospital, where he remained in hospital. The traffic commissioner has taken over the investigation into the cause of the accident. (ChWi)
