The rating agency “Asset Impact” rated the German Education Study Fund as “very sustainable”. Students finance their studies in Germany and abroad through the study fund, in which institutional and private investors participate. At the same time, the sponsored young academics have access to the “Academy” training program, which supports the success of their studies and entry into a career. In contrast to a loan, students do not start their professional life with a fixed debt burden, but pay back a proportion of their actual income to the student fund. In certain life situations, such as parental leave or postgraduate courses, the repayment to the study fund is paused.

Asset Impact on this: “With its offer, Deutsche Bildung makes a contribution to equal opportunities and thus to social sustainability and transformation. Access to […] Academic education is made possible regardless of social origin or financial background. The freedom of career choice is supported by the fact that there is no risk of long-term debt due to an income-related repayment from a certain minimum wage. ”

The rating agency Asset Impact, which tests investment products for sustainability, also sees two of the 17 UN sustainability goals being met: “No poverty” and “Education”. These SDG goals include improved access to financial services and microfinance by 2030, as well as the opportunity to gain high-quality qualifications. According to Asset Impact, the study fund is making a significant contribution to this.

Students of all disciplines can apply for study funding all year round without deadlines. From January, students from other EU countries who want to study in Germany will also be financed through a cooperation with the EU’s Skills & Education Program.

Investors can make a sustainable investment in education through the bonds of Deutsche Bildung. An increase in the current bond is planned. Institutional investors can also invest in equity by purchasing limited partner shares.
