At 2:35 p.m., a caller reported smoke in a warehouse on the Way of the Cross. This smoke was confirmed by the first-time emergency services. Several glowing wooden pallets were found in the hall under large sacks (big bags). Granules for agriculture were stored in the sacks. These wooden pallets ignited due to heating within the granules. The load capacity of the pallets was destroyed by the fire, causing two of the big bags to burst open and the contents to be distributed on the floor of the warehouse. The escaped granulate was removed from the hall with a wheel loader from the fire brigade. Another 28 pallets with the same content were removed from the hall with a forklift. The burning pallets were extinguished very quickly.

No one was injured during the operation.
At the same time as the mission on the Way of the Cross, a traffic accident was reported at the intersection Werner-Voß-Strasse and Europaring at 3:32 p.m. The callers described that two cars collided and that people were probably stuck in one of the cars. The units of the volunteer fire brigade in Hüls and Uerdingen and the rescue vehicle of the professional fire brigade were then alerted. Fortunately, no trapped car occupants were found when the first emergency services arrived. Two people were seriously injured in the accident, one person was moderately severe and one person was slightly injured. All people were transported by ambulance to Krefeld clinics. Fire protection at the site was ensured by the fire brigade and emergency services were supported.
Since the mission on the Way of the Cross took over 3.5 hours, the units of the Oppum and Traar volunteer fire brigade were used to occupy the orphaned main fire and rescue station. A vehicle was then alerted directly to the emergency services on the A 57 because a motorcycle driver had fallen there.
