Texas Braces for Weekend Temperature Drop as Cold Front Sweeps In
A significant cold front is poised to bring cooler temperatures to much of Texas this weekend, marking a noticeable shift from recent warm conditions. Residents across North Texas can expect a dramatic change, with highs possibly falling more than 30 degrees from earlier in the week. While South Texas will remain comparatively warm, the front’s arrival signals the beginning of a more typical October weather pattern for the state.
The cold front will primarily impact areas north of Interstate 35,where temperatures are forecast to range from a high of 73°F (22°C) to a low of 38°F (3°C) overnight. North winds and low humidity will contribute to a ”cold feeling” during the early morning hours. A 30% chance of rain is predicted, notably in counties east of I-35.
Cities like Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco will experience the most significant temperature declines. Further south, though, conditions will remain warmer. Austin and San Antonio are expected to see highs near 91°F (33°C) and lows around 68°F (20°C),with only slightly cooler nights.
The National Weather service reports that this system will weaken as it moves southward, and no drastic changes are anticipated in South Texas until late October, when more intense cold fronts are expected to arrive. This weekend’s front represents a typical October decline, but serves as a reminder that colder weather is on its way for the entire state.
