(Seoul = Yonhap News) Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in military uniform gets on a Leopard 2 tank.
The train soon roars and roars.
According to foreign media such as Reuters, Minister Pistorius observed a Leopard 2 firepower demonstration held at the German Augustdorf Tank Battalion on the 1st (local time).
In response to a reporter’s question about his impressions of riding the German main battle tank, Minister Pistorius said, “I was very impressed” and “I was moved by the expertise and enthusiasm of the soldiers.”
The unit is said to have tanks to be delivered to Ukraine.
After much deliberation, the German government recently decided to support its main battle tank, the Leopard 2, to Ukraine.
The scale of support is 14, and the total scale of support is over 100 when combined with allies such as Poland.
Leopard 2 is expected to be a new ‘game changer’ in the stalemate war in Ukraine following the US-made high-speed mobile artillery rocket system (HIMARS).
However, in order for the supported tanks to be as effective as possible, some point out that the time to enter the battlefield as early as possible and to secure related manpower and infrastructure should be accelerated.
Regarding this, Minister Pistorius said, “The Ukrainian military will soon begin training for the Leopard 2 in Muenster, Germany.”
