Is it a coincidence or is it a project you have prepared?

On January 24th, the birthday of President Moon Jae-in, the song’Song to the moon’ resonated at KBS’Open Concert’ is continuing.

‘Song to the moon’ is a song that originally appeared in Antonin Dvorak’s opera’Rusalka’. Rusalka, the protagonist in the form of a mermaid, looks at the moon and sings to the prince to convey her love. Often translated as’a song to the moon’ or’a song to the moon’.

President Moon’s English surname is’Moon’. So, among supporters, President Moon is often called’Moon.’

For that reason, the story of whether’Song to the Moon’, which was selected as the last song of the concert that day, was to celebrate Moon’s 69th birthday, spread online. Most of them were criticisms that doubted KBS’s intention to select songs.

As the controversy grew, Rep. Park Dae-chul, the power of the people, asked KBS to submit details of whether they had used the’Song to the moon’ sound source on KBS radio and TV in the past five years. In that way, the response from KBS was only twice in five years. It was also a concert held both times. Due to the nature of Aria, there may be characteristics that are difficult to select in other programs.

KBS uses’Song to the moon’ sound source twice in the last 5 years

The problem is the timing of the radio waves. Unfortunately, the period was January 27, 2019 and January 24, 2021. The first broadcast was the day closest to President Moon’s birthday, and the second was the day of President Moon’s birthday.

KBS said, “The performer suggested 4 songs (including’Song to the moon’), and the crew selected 2 of them (excluding’Song to the moon’) through a meeting and delivered their opinions to the performers, but the performers I wanted to change one of the songs, so I selected the final two songs.” In the end, it is explained that the will of the performer who sang the song was reflected, not the production crew.

The problem is the second broadcast. KBS said, “The episode was decorated with the theme of movie music familiar to our ears, and’Song to the moon’ was also selected as a famous opera aria inserted in the movie’Driving Miss Daisy’.” There is no explanation as to who played the leading role in choosing this song as in the first selection.

Broadcasting of a concert held around the birthday of both 文

The reason why suspicions about broadcasting are growing recently is that’Song to the moon’ has a history of causing controversy once between January 2019 and January 2021.

Prosecutor Jin Hye-won, Seoul East District Prosecutor’s Office, shared a video of’Song to the moon’ on his Facebook in May 2020, and wrote, “Even though Mrs. Kim Jeong-suk is watching with her eyes open, she is wearing a nasty dress and singing hymns.” Then, a former professor at Dongyang University Jin Joong-kwon at the time pointed out that “North Korea, South Korea, and Korea are one,” and “the people’s sun is in the north, and the people’s moon is in the south.”

KBS said, “The sound source was controversial on social media in 2020, but didn’t you know?” said “(The reason for the selection) has nothing to do with the controversy on SNS.”

The relationship between the soprano Kang Hye-jeong, who sang in the second broadcast, and the Blue House is also drawing attention. Kang participated in the’Korean-Russian Classical Concert in Commemoration of the Korea-Russia Summit’ held at the Moscow National Tchaikovsky Concert Hall with Soprano Sumi Jo and others during President Moon Jae-in’s state visit to Russia in June 2018.

Although KBS is in the position of OBIRAC, criticism is continuing both inside and outside KBS as it coincides with the recent discussion on increasing the license fee. On the 29th of last month, the KBS labor union said in a statement titled “KBS is not a presidential praise broadcast”, “(President Moon’s supporters) were spreading online as a banner for the moon’s birthday. If you play’Song to the moon’ as the ending song of the concert, can you hear the song as just a very beautiful aria masterpiece?”

Rep. Kim Woong’s on Facebook on the 1st, “KBS claims that 46.4% of its annual salary is billions of dollars,” and “I think it’s too high a high salary for a broadcasting station that broadcasts’Song to the moon’ on the president’s birthday.” .

Rep. Park Dae-chul said, “I am confused as to whether’Song to the moon’ was’Song to the Moon’.” “The fee increase is premature. It would be in the best interest to give up North Korea’s dissemination and Moonbieocheonga and promote it as a broadcast for the people.”
