While Skyactiv-X technology has been the highlight of the Japanese carmaker’s compact, this is no longer the case today. At least in some markets.

mark Mazda lured us a few days ago on July 8thwhen she wanted to introduce something big to the world. In the end, however, the secret leaked to the public a little earlier, although we must admit that it is not such a surprise.

The Mazda 3 presented itself on the Mexican market with the powerful turbo gasoline that Japanese carmakers so wanted. Specifically, we are talking about a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder Skyactiv-G with an output of 167 kW (227 hp) and 420 newton meters of torque. Other technical details remain a mystery so far, all we know is that the engine is combined exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. You would ask in vain for another configuration.

In addition to Mexico, the new feature will also be presented on the markets in the United States. The arrival of the “troika” with a new engine in Europe has not yet been officially refuted, but we are afraid that due to strict emission standards, we will not see it in our country.
The Japanese company recently ruled out that it would make the Mazda 3 a pure hot hatch, so the latest version with a turbo engine also looks like any other “three”. The powerful ATV is characterized only by a rich standard equipment, which includes, for example, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a Bose audio system with 12 speakers and an electric panoramic roof.

The novelty in Mexico will go on sale as early as July 20, and for the 2021 model year, the engine is also expected to be used in the sedan body.
