The Estonian Prime Minister calls for the confiscation of weapons from Russians and Belarusians in the country

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has called for the confiscation of the firearms of Russians and Belarusians in the country, which they possess according to the law, writes the portal “Postimees”.

According to the politician, keeping these funds can threaten the country’s national security.

“I hope that, given the circumstances, people will understand that the citizens of Russia and Belarus with weapons in hand can pose a potential threat to the security of Estonia,” the Estonian Prime Minister said.

According to the head of the Estonian government, the draft law on the confiscation of weapons owned by citizens of Russia and Belarus will be sent to parliament. That way, Russians and Belarusians will have time to voluntarily surrender their weapons, Kallas said.

According to available data, weapons for self-defense or hunting are currently available to 629 citizens of Russia and Belarus who are in the country.
