Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) claimed to be ready if the dealer is used at any time for engine maintenance needs Maung, a new tactical vehicle made Pindad which will be sold to the market in the civil version. The car is called like an SUV that uses a Toyota Hilux engine.
“The point is if the government asks for help or support to Toyota, of course we will learn to be able to help, “said TAM Marketing Director Anton Jimmi via short message, on Tuesday (7/14).
Anton claimed not to know the details about the cooperation between Pindad and Toyota regarding Maung. He said he was exploring that information.
“That’s what I’m checking but I haven’t got it reply, “Anton said.
Previously Pindad Managing Director Abraham Mose explained Maung was designed as a TNI soldier fighter car for close combat. Maung is a name given by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
The Defense Ministry is said to have ordered 500 military versions of the Maung unit, whose production is said to have begun in October. After that, Abraham said that he was allowed to market the civil version of Maung.
Maung explained the military and civil versions of Abraham did not differ significantly. The civil version is powered 4×4 and uses a 2,494cc 2GD-FTV turbo diesel engine made by Toyota. The engine produces 149 hp, 1.5 hp larger than the Hilux double cabin pickup.
Abraham called using Toyota engines to facilitate maintenance. He said engine maintenance could be carried out in Astra workshops (Astra International, the largest automotive group in Indonesia, the parent company of TAM).
The military version of Maung will be sold for Rp600 million per unit, while the civilian variant without ‘armor’ and weapons stand will be marketed cheaper with a price range of Rp400 million – Rp500 million.
